Eulogy Part 2, read by James, her Son, at the funeral service

Again, I’d just like to thank all of you for coming today, and helping our family to celebrate the life of Janet Dickinson; my mother. As I look around I see many people who knew and cared for her, but also those that perhaps met her at different stages of her life. Some of you may remember her from before the brain hemorrhage she suffered in February 1997. Others will have met her after her recovery in England or here in Spain, where our parents moved to enjoy a slower pace of life several years ago. But however or whenever you met her, I’m sure you’ll agree on one point. She was a fighter. She never gave up, or complained during her long and difficult recovery. She always had a smile or a kind word to say. She lived her life with a certain dignity that often left me in awe. But that’s just the type of lady she was. Whilst her illness may have robbed her of certain physical abilities, it could not dampen her zest for life. Or silence the laughter and joy she was capable of spreading to those around her. Her kindness. Her cheeky smile. Her un-breakable spirit will live long in our hearts. Because after all is said and done, we never truly die - because we live on in the memories of those who loved us forever. Last Monday a light went out. What we have left is the precious memory of how brightly it burned; and the warmth it gave us all. XXX
